Re-securing your Yahoo!New Zealand AccountsIn the past week the Yahoo!Xtra email service has been targeted by malicious email attacks. This means that Yahoo!Xtra mail users may have been, or may still be receiving, spam emails from people on their contact lists. Or email accounts could be being used to send spam.
To ensure email accounts are safe and secure, we are asking all Yahoo!Xtra email customers to change their password. Accounts may also have received an email from Telecom asking the user to do this as a matter of urgency. The user can change your password in a few simple steps.
We have also taken the urgent step of cancelling the current passwords of around 60,000 Yahoo!Xtra email accounts we believe may have been compromised. If yours is one of these accounts you will be prompted to change your password the next time you log on to your email.
Yahoo! are unable to confirm if there has been any access to other personal information contained within emails, such as login details and passwords. If you are concerned that any of your emails contained log-in details or passwords for other accounts, we recommend that you change your password for those accounts.
