A glossary of terms to help you use the ReadyCloud Server Estimator
Template Name – here you create friendly (i.e. Exchange) and formal (i.e. EXCH01) names to help you identify your servers. Select the number of servers you would like with this exact configuration. Then you should select 'Confirm Server Template' before adding additional services.
Operating System – you should select the appropriate Operating System for your server here.
Microsoft Application – you select your Microsoft Application here. It is important to note that you can't supply your own. If you require any of these applications we must supply it as part of our service and it is added to the monthly fee.
CPU and Memory – select your vCPU and RAM choices here. Starter servers are intended for light loads such as file transfer, basic web servers etc. Choose 'Standard' if you are unsure.
Storage – you choose the type and amount of storage you require here. Primary Storage is mandatory. Secondary Storage is more cost effective and slightly slower. Snapshots take an image of the Primary Storage partition for full partition restoration in the event of a major failure (perhaps due to patching, virus infection, etc). If you are unsure which option is best you should choose ‘Primary with Snapshots’.
Storage Appliance – this will create a storage appliance (with permissions if required) to allow you to store your data and make it available to users on your network of choice. Remember each virtual server comes with storage, only choose this option if you would like a purpose built server for storage only.
Internet traffic – select if you would like to make your servers available on the Internet. Our plan includes inbound & outbound, national & international traffic.
WAN Networking – select WAN if you would like your server(s) to be available on your existing One Office WAN service. This connection will be sized once we've discussed your requirements in more detail. The fee includes connection into your One Office National Traffic point. If you haven’t got a Gen-i WAN and would like one you should select this option and we will contact you to discuss your requirements in more detail.
Internet Firewalling – we recommend that you select this if you would like to have one of our firewalls between your server(s) and the Internet. Customer managed firewalls require you to manage your firewall rules and configuration. Gen-i managed firewalls include this management.
DMZ Firewalling – DMZ firewalls provide security between servers (i.e. Mail Server and Mail Filter) or between servers and your trusted network (assuming you've selected a Secure Site VPN or WAN Integration).
Secure User VPN – select this option to provide a managed VPN client service allowing remote administrators or users to access server(s) over the Internet with additional authentication and encryption.
Secure Site VPN – selecting this provides a managed, encrypted tunnel between your ReadyCloud server(s) and another network on the Internet. Includes traffic and RCS Internet traffic fees. Remote site requires a firewall with appropriate VPN encryption. You should also select your maximum tunnel speed.
