5:30pm update
Today I returned to Auckland after spending yesterday in Christchurch with our local team.  I continue to be blown away by the courage and sense of community spirit, humility and absolute selflessness of Canterbury folk.

At 12.51pm today, Gen-i and Telecom joined the rest of the country to hold two minutes of silence to respect those who have been hurt or lost their lives.  It was an important moment to reflect together on last week’s tragic event and to pray with the rest of New Zealand for miracles in the Christchurch CBD.

We remain committed to Christchurch and we will re-establish our offices as soon as circumstances and the safety of our people allow.  Most of our Christchurch offices remain closed due to structural damage and so that our people can stay at home to support their family, friends and community.

Some of our Christchurch people who were not directly affected by the earthquake are now working remotely; some from their homes and others at our warehouse and distribution site outside the CBD. This is a temporary base for some of our technical field force, service delivery, managers and Managed Customer Centre (MCC) people.  We are monitoring the workloads of our people closely to ensure we meet client commitments while making sure our people are taking time to look after themselves and their families too.

The current situation for Gen-i and Telecom IT and communication services in Canterbury is stable and there are no changes to report.  For a summary, see the table below:
