Release date: 19 May 2011

4.30pm update

A quick final update on our work to restore XT mobile calling services.

Our technical teams worked urgently to resolve the issue, and mobile voice services have returned to normal.

Some of our clients had experienced intermittent call congestion issues this morning, however, service was progressively restored from early afternoon.

The voice issues were caused by a software fault which has now been resolved and the network remains under close monitoring.

Data and text messages (SMS) were not affected, and remained working as normal.

Once again, I apologise for any inconvenience for you and your business.

We continue to be very proud of our mobile network and are committed to continuing to deliver a quality service for our clients.

Our client teams will be provided with further information on the event as it becomes available, which they can discuss with you.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me or your Gen-i client manager if you need further information.

3.00pm update

Today some Gen-i clients will be experiencing intermittent congestion issues while making voice calls over the mobile network since around 8am today.

The degradation of the voice service is in some parts of the North Island.

Data and text (SMS) messages are working as normal.  We are encouraging the use of a landline for important calls.

We are working as quickly as possible to restore full mobile services.  We will be in touch with further updates as information becomes available.

We apologise and regret any inconvenience for our clients.

We understand the vital role that mobile plays in business.  We are committed to delivering a quality service for our clients and are focused on putting this right for those of you who are impacted as soon as possible.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your Gen-i client manager if you need further information.
