Release date: 1st April 2011

This week, Computerworld interviewed Ovum Australia’s public-sector research director, Kevin Noonan, about how natural disasters here and in Australia will spur cloud migration.  Noonan describes Gen-i as a “standout performer in cloud services” in New Zealand, with our combination of IaaS and wide-area networking expertise.

In CIO magazine, CNS Treasury's Dean Forster talks about the benefits of using Gen-i's ReadyCloud Server to host its entire ICT infrastructure. Forster says that with ReadyCloud Server “it’s much quicker to get software up and going and the company can roll out changes much more swiftly”.  He also says having the entire infrastructure housed at Gen-i means “a much stronger guarantee” of redundancy and recovery capability, and having a local partner is important.

Kathmandu CIO, Grant Taylor, also talks to CIO magazine about how the company has moved its infrastructure to Gen-i and set up an IaaS environment.  The Gen-i link went live days before the Christchurch earthquake, and this meant its stores in New Zealand and Australia could continue trading and the impact on the business was minimal.
